OK, I know this request is a variation on a previous request from another user to support playing a selection/region but bear with me.
Thomas, I really appreciate you adding functionality to implement my suggestion to make a zoom setting persistent and I use it all the time. It leads me to another request for you to ponder. Consider this scenario: - I've loaded an audio file ... say 15 mins long (length not important though) .. and the zoom waveform is showing 2 secs of the entire waveform that is shown in the selection strip. I then use the zoom tool to select the audio section I'm interested in seeing in the zoomed strip. So far so good, I see the zoomed waveform and I get a pink rectangle in the selection strip that shows me what part of the file the zoomed selection covers. Very nice. What would be very convenient is if I were then able to double-click in the pink selection which automatically sets the selection start and stop points and sets the play position to the beginning of the selection. That way it'd be very easy to select a section and listen. Then if the selection wasn't quite right, adjust the position/width of the pink selection and double-click again. If this created a loop section .. even better .. but being able to double-click a selection in the first place would be a very nice feature in my view. What do you think Thomas ? best regards, Mark

Hi Mark,
Let me know if I understood correctly. What you want is that when you double-click the pink area in the overview, it automatically selects the visible area, corresponding to the pink region? I am not sure I understand why this could be easier than simply clicking and dragging the mouse to select the audio in the main view. If you want to adjust the selection afterwards, you can still click and drag the edges of the selection.
Hi Thomas,
Yup, I knew it would be tricky to explain what I meant using just a text description. Sorry about that. Your reply says "I am not sure I understand why this could be easier than simply clicking and dragging the mouse to select the audio in the main view". And I agree 100%. It isn't. It's exactly how I've made a selection. I'm saying I've used the mouse to click and drag a section in the main view and can now see a pink selection along with the zoomed version in the lower view (just as you expect). What I'm referring to is an additional capability *after* clicking and dragging the mouse to select the audio in the main view. Currently, if I make a selection just as you suggest, then click the play button the play point jumps back to the beginning of the file rather than play from the start of my selection I've just made. That is, clicking the play button always starts from where the vertical yellow line is positioned regardless of any selection. What I'm suggesting is once the audio selection has been determined, I can double-click inside the selection which will automatically move the play position (vertical yellow line) to the beginning of the selection so that clicking the play button means I hear audio from the start of the selection, it will play from the start point and play will stop at the end of the selection. I know I can click in the time line to move the play point but that's not tied to the audio selection and the selection will move to be 50% either side of the play line which means I've lost my original selection start and end points. If you try enhancing just a section of a sound file using a VST plugin e.g. ozone4 I think you'll get a better idea what I'm suggesting and why. I find TwistedWave is an excellent host for VST plugins but I haven't discovered an easy way to enhance/fix small sections of an audio file as yet (it's a doddle in SoundForge), but I do think such an ability can only make TwistedWave more of a "must have" audio editing app on a mac. best regards, Mark

I cannot find a way to load VST's in this program, or am I missing something?

TwistedWave does not support VST plugins yet. I will think about this for a future update. I guess Mark meant Audio Unit plugins.
Mark, if I understood correctly what you wanted, this is available in this update. Could you try it and see if it works as you expected: http://twistedwave.com/download/TwistedWave1.8.0.18.dmg http://twistedwave.com/download/TwistedWave64-1.8.0.18.dmg |
